F ounded in 1903, the Workers’ Educational Association (WEA) is a charity and the UK’s largest voluntary sector provider of adult education, delivering 9,500 part-time courses for over 74,000 people each year in England and Scotland.

The WEA in Southampton is part of WEA Southern Region. It is based at the Clovelly Centre and delivers courses and training opportunities across the city. These courses include ESOL, Functional English, Volunteering, Employability Skills, Sewing, IT, Arts and Crafts, Pilates, Tai Chi, Creative Writing, Healthy Cooking and many more. The Clovelly Centre also works in parnership with many minority women’s groups to enable them to be active citizens in the community.

Through curriculum themes of employability, health & wellbeing, community engagement and culture, the WEA gives students the confidence to leearn new skills, live healthier lives, engage in society and broaden their horizons. Our courses are created and provided through our regional offices and volunteer-led branches, often in partnership with local community groups and organisations.
