Clear Project

Clear Project
C LEAR aims to improve the quality of life for refugees and asylum seekers in Southampton, providing free advice and supporting people to access local services to which they are entitled. We believe in empowerment through education and in practical action to support both established and developing refugee communities. In addition to its advice service, CLEAR offers ESOL classes, adult learning courses and a work club. CLEAR has a strong volunteer network which we use to assist with service delivery. CLEAR is a founding partner of the Avenue Multicultural Centre (AMC) partnership which works with asylum seekers and offers practical help to those who are destitute.

The work stream “For us Too” has a focus on refugees and asylum seekers and through this stream we will provide opportunities for access to physical activity through our volunteer led football activities. The work stream “Healthy and Active Start” has a focus on parents with young children. CLEAR offers ESOL courses with crèche in partnership with Sure Start and will embed health messages into the classes. The work stream also includes developing Parent Buddies and providing them with technology support. CLEAR will utilise its volunteering expertise to support both classes and this network of volunteers. The work stream “Mental Well Being” includes arts and music activities as therapy. CLEAR will use its experience of Adult Learning delivery to offer music and dance opportunities for asylum seekers and refugees at the AMC.
